Team Insiders was started in 1999, in Park Ridge, IL. Originally it was a loose affiliation of car enthusiasts. As time went on, the affiliation turned more into a club, appointing officers of the club and an official membership process. While the club sustained a group of full members, associate members were accepted and rotated through the years. 

Unlike other car clubs in the area, Team Insiders did not have strict guidelines on vehicle types or backgrounds of the members. This open environment has roots in how the club was started, but over time it also allowed full members and associate members to form a diverse group of individuals, who each brought a perspective that was valuable to the organization overall.
